My Triumph Spitfire 1500 which survived the... 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Segny-Monte Carlo Rally !

Hermes has been acquired in December 1990. Like a proper Triumph, he has a mind of his own. Give him a smooth twisty road and he is humming with pleasure, give him a motorway and he is buzzing with boredom, give him a bumpy road and he is clonking with disgust!

Hermes likes travelling. While I was living in Amsterdam, he has accompanied me to Monte Carlo in May of every year from 1991 to 1996 to pay tribute to the gods of Formula 1. He has also travelled to Greece, receiving a wonderful sun tan, and a new water pump in the process! He has been to England, and Germany as well...

Since I live in Athens (December 1996), Hermes enjoys the good weather, and goes to the mountains every now and then for exercise!

Hermes has been teaching me everything about British automotive engineering. I had a chance to attack the repair of every single system on him. I have been trying to continuously improve his performance, with the climax of the engine rebuild in spring 1995. He is now giving out 88hp at the wheels, according to the dyno tests (estimated 110hp at the flywheel).

Hermes is also the reason for my membership to the:
Triumph Sports Club Greece.
